About us

We’re a Crown entity responsible for the safety and security of New Zealand’s civil aviation system. There are two parts to our business – the regulatory arm (Civil Aviation Authority), which is responsible for the safety oversight of the civil aviation system, and the security arm (Aviation Security Service) who you would have met if you’ve travelled by plane in New Zealand. We have a strong commitment to achieve Safer Skies, and have a unique opportunity for you to help accomplish this.

About the role

You will play a critical role in developing social media platforms to deliver engaging aviation safety and security content for New Zealand and international audiences.

With plenty of opportunity to get creative, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create and publish informative and engaging social content. You will professionally, and tactfully, manage public enquiries and responses. You will also be responsible for building social media capability within the Authority and demonstrating how social media can be an effective communications and engagement tool.

Additionally, you’ll need to have the capability to craft social media strategies to engage a diverse audience, with support from the team leader.

Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver smart social content, effectively engage with stakeholders, and apply innovative and creative thinking to communicate with a diverse audience.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is ready to take ownership of our social media platforms, with the eagerness to make a real difference in how we deliver aviation safety and security messages. In addition to social media and communications experience, an understanding of the public sector and how to navigate complex environments with tact and diplomacy will be essential.

In addition to a natural appreciation for the bigger picture, we want to hear from professionals who are adept at problem solving, enjoy being part of a team, and have an unwavering focus on results.
