Customer Services Officer, Contact Centre – Wellington

Do you want to make a difference for people, communities and Government?
At the Department of Internal Affairs, we take pride in what we do, we make it easy and make it work, and we are stronger together.

The Department of Internal Affairs Contact Centre wants people who will deliver outstanding customer service!

Our Wellington Contact Centre has full time, permanent positions available:
Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with one Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every 6 weeks.

Our inbound Contact Centre supports customers by phone with community funding, charity obligations and RealMe services. You will need to help our customers and communities with information, applications and online support.

Our environment is vibrant, supportive, respectful, improvement-focused and collaborative. This is a rewarding position in which you will be able to enjoy providing meaningful support and advice to customers on a daily basis. The Department is committed to staff development, as we believe the skills you learn in this role are highly valuable and transferable.

There is an increasing demand and provision for online services. Our customers have varying degrees of comfort with online services so we need people who are patient and have adaptable communication skills.

We can teach you how to use our systems and tools. All you need is to bring your great attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability and willingness to learn.

It is also essential that all applicants have:

  • New Zealand Citizenship (not New Zealand Permanent Residency or a Work Visa)
  • The ability to attain and maintain a satisfactory security clearance

Along with your application, you must submit a current CV and a customised covering letter which includes:

  • Why you are interested in this role
  • What experience and skills you would bring to the role
