The Digital Public Service branch achieves this by working across the public service to connect, influence and support the system to transform and better respond to the ever-changing digital landscape. It also enables the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) to support a modern adaptive public service with the skills, technology and data to operate at pace in a fast-changing digital environment.

The branch has recently redefined its purpose and reorganised to better meet the needs of a digital public service. These roles are the result of this redesign.

Are you an investment specialist looking for a challenging and satisfying new role? We seek people with a deep understanding of how investment supports the achievement of government digital outcomes to join our new team of multidisciplinary consultants.

Working collaboratively with your colleagues you will act as a change agent , supporting public sector agencies to develop specialist investment capability enabling public sector agencies to maximise and align their investment to the Strategy for a Digital Public Service.  You will do this by:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of a portfolio of agencies including their current ICT systems, risks and investment and transformation intentions and plans
  • Supporting agencies to develop business cases and investment plans ensuring costs, risks and benefits are clearly articulated, and plans align with the Strategy for a Digital Public Service
  • Advising agencies about their investment responsibilities and accountabilities and ensuring decisions are in line with published frameworks and guidelines
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of investment guidelines, information and tools

The ideal candidate will have:

  • strong knowledge base and experience of ICT investment and an understanding of latest trends, thinking, frameworks, legislation and State Serves policy
  • a comprehensive understanding of how investment processes influence successful business change
  • a deep understanding of business planning, investment processes and action planning
  • experience managing a portfolio of complex and diverse stakeholders, and using intel gathered to inform strategy development
  • the ability to develop and implement fit for purpose investment and action planning frameworks, tools, standards and metrics

The nature of this role means you will need to have the ability to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance.
