  • Take the lead in developing the team, frameworks, and deliverables for our Crown entity monitoring and board appointments functions
  • Develop active partnerships with the monitored entities
  • Provide expert advice and services to support Ministers and add value to improve outcomes for all New Zealanders

As part of the Ministerial Advice, Monitoring, and Operations Directorate, in the Policy, Regulation and Communities Branch, you will have the opportunity to contribute to supporting the safety, wellbeing and success of New Zealand communities, and provide advice and support to our Ministers in Government. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and influential Crown monitoring expert and people leaders, with the capability and experience to build the team s capability ad work collaboratively across the wider sector. A confident and articulate communicator, you will have connections across the public sector and within Crown entity monitoring networks and agencies. You will be comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity and have the nous to work with complex financial information. As a critical member of the Directorate Leadership Team, you will enjoy contributing to our strategic and operational direction, including the healthy culture of the Directorate.

Your experience will include:

  • leading a monitoring function in a government department;
  • proven experience with establishing and maintaining trusted and effective relationships with peers and senior sector leaders;
  • a strong understanding of public sector processes, including policy development, Ministerial processes, accountability and reporting;
  • expertise and experience in board appointment processes; and
  • working with boards and the monitoring agency to ensure strategic alignment of medium and long term goals.
