Strategic Advisor (Level 1) System Investment

Digital Public Service Branch

The Digital Public Service branch works with and through agencies to drive and deliver customer-centred digital government.

Its role is to support and enable agencies to progress a modern and adaptive public service that can respond to New Zealanders’ expectations of faster, more agile, accessible, inclusive and integrated government services.

The branch also supports the role of the Government Chief Digital Officer in its broader context of driving a more unified digital public service, framed in the Strategy for a Digital Public Service.

Strategic Advisor (Level 1) System Investment

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on whole of government digital strategies and initiatives.

You will be the branch s specialist strategic advisor in the area of systemwide ICT and digital investment. You ll work across the system of government, including providing advice to senior public service leaders, central agencies and other functional leaders.

You ll also engage internally with agency-focused investment colleagues and other strategic advisors with varying specialisms. In doing so, you will help implement the Strategy for a Digital Public Service and deliver on the branch s purpose.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to bring deep specialist ICT and digital investment knowledge to the branch, provide systemwide strategic leadership and advice, and contribute to building external and internal capability.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • have extensive experience in providing high-level strategic investment advice in the public sector and influencing systemwide change
  • have extensive experience in engaging with and managing relationships with senior stakeholders, including ministers and central agencies
  • have held significant leadership roles in large complex organisations in the areas of ICT and digital investment and financial management
  • be knowledgeable in a wide range of digital, data and technology matters, especially as they relate to future organisational and systemwide investment
  • have the ability to analyse, plan for and drive change
  • be a thought leader and authority in your profession.
