The Senior Advisor Regulatory Assurance and Stewardship, reporting to the Chief Advisor, will help to set up and road test our new Regulatory Assurance and Stewardship function within Te Tari Taiwhenua Internal Affairs.

This role will provide advice and expertise in regulatory stewardship to build regulatory capability and best practice across Te Tari Taiwhenua s 14 regulatory systems.  This will be achieved by:

  • Identifying and mapping DIA s regulatory systems and regulatory stewardship responsibilities, including with system partner agencies and Treasury
  • Developing and implementing frameworks to support DIA business groups to monitor and report on their regulatory systems
  • Providing advice to ELT and Treasury on risks, issues and priorities in regulatory systems administered by DIA
  • Supporting initiatives to improve regulatory best practice in DIA and the wider regulatory community.

About you

You will have significant experience in providing advice and support in a regulatory function and in advising senior leaders.  As an experienced regulatory practitioner, you will have deep knowledge of regulatory functions, roles and best practice models.  You will also have strong relationship management skills, enabling you to work with regulators across Internal Affairs and across regulatory systems.  Collegiality and willingness to provide critical friend advice to senior leaders and peers will be important.
