Public Engagement sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch, the Department s epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing, preserving and sharing important things that are precious to New Zealand.

The Public Engagement team is looking for an Event Coordinator to join our Operations Team to fill a fixed term parental leave vacancy. This is a dynamic role for someone with outstanding people skills looking to contribute to the success of the Tiakiwai Conference Centre.

About the Role

Your role will be to work alongside the Business Development Specialist to help acquire new clients and retain existing customers. You will work alongside the Operations team to administer bookings, coordinate events and invoice clients. You will liaise directly with clients, stakeholders, partners and third-party providers to ensure the success of their events. You will create detailed event run sheets and handover to the Operations Coordinators for events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops  and meetings.

To succeed you must have

  • Outstanding ability to communicate both internally and externally, with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • An outgoing and friendly personality with a sense of team spirit, confidence and humour
  • Experience in event management
