Inland Revenue is an essential part of the fabric of New Zealand. We collect most of the revenue that our government needs to fund and administer the significant social and economic policy programmes that provide support and care for the people of this country.

We want to be a world-class revenue organisation who make it simple, open and more certain for people to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements, and we have spent the last few years realigning all aspects of our organisation to enable this to happen. We have updated technology and introduced agile and multi-disciplinary teams who network together to create outcomes for the government and people. IR is delivering in an ever-increasing digital world, but it’s still for people.

The Strategic Portfolio Stewardship (SPS) group provides the planning processes to enable the senior leadership team and organisation to deliver on IR’s strategic outcomes. SPS is accountable for:

  • ensuring the organisation has an enterprise plan
  • prioritising appropriately
  • supporting the planning process and managing risk
  • reporting on the achievement of our strategies
  • our organisation’s Performance Measurement Framework

Within the SPS group sits the Performance & Reporting team, who are responsible for ensuring a fit-for-purpose organisational Performance Measurement Framework. The team consists of Domain Principals, Domain Specialists and Analysts who review, develop and report on performance measures, proactively support IR’s performance and ensure performance risks are actively managed. The team is responsible for our external reporting accountabilities such as the Annual Report and quarterly Ministers report.

We are now seeking your interest in two Analyst (L2) roles within this team, on a fixed term basis until the end of October 2021. You will provide organisational performance and value-add analysis. Your work will ensure that IR has accurate performance information to meet our statutory obligations and support effective decision making at all levels.

In this role you will:

  • collect and analyse data for our full suite of measures in our Performance Measurement Framework
  • analyse data to generate forecasts for our external performance measures
  • be responsible for external product performance reporting (KiwiSaver and Student Loans)
  • provide value-add analysis to support governance papers and senior leader decision making
  • provide data for external requests for information such as Parliamentary Questions and Official Information Act requests
  • work with others across the organisation to help develop performance measures

You will need to have:

  • strong experience gathering and assessing information and delivering regular quality reporting to inform decision making
  • the ability to turn data into insights using appropriate analytical techniques
  • experience in using SAS or SQL to deliver business insights
  • experience in testing of reports
  • critical thinking skills, curiosity and an analytical mindset
  • the ability to build effective relationships and make connections across the organisation to collaboratively deliver pieces of work

This is your opportunity to continue to innovate and challenge yourself within our organisation. Please email SelectionFOM@ird.govt.nz for a copy of the Role Description and a blueprint of the SPS group.

Please apply online, attach a copy of your CV and a Cover Letter outlining how you meet the role requirements as outlined here and in the Role Description.
