We are an organisation that recognises the growing need for statistical skills in areas such as breeding and genomics, metabolomics, post-harvest technologies, ecology, sensors and sensing systems, clinical trials and sensory and consumer science.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Statistical Scientist to provide statistical leadership and expertise in collaboration with our research staff working in a wide range of fields across the organisation. This will see you undertake high impact analyses, ensure research is statistically sound and conducted at a high level, communicate results to colleagues and industry partners and lead research projects in statistical science. You will grow and support data science and domain-specific science working within an experienced Statistical Science team.

About you

You’ll have a postgraduate degree or advanced diploma in statistics or a related field, preferably with several years of experience in analysing biological data. You’ll combine a broad knowledge of statistics and well-developed skills in statistical programming (R and/or Python), data management and coding with the ability to investigate datasets of varying sizes and practical knowledge of the principles of reproducible research. Well-developed communication and relationship skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of diverse staff will be essential. Experience working with genomic, or time-series data and familiarity with Bayesian methods would be advantageous.
