Our Lincoln Farm undertakes field activites which support our science and consequently our industries ability to sustainably produce high quality crops. With a network of sites throughout New Zealand, our goal is to underpin the growth of plant and marine-based industry through the successful application and commercialisation of research-based innovation.What you will be doingWorking on the 180 Hectare+ Lincoln farm you will contribute to efficient field service operations, with an emphasis on providing cropping land preparation, crop maintenance and crop harvesting support. This role works across farm services and health and safety, and will include developing and maintaining appropriate documentation, operating procedures and hazard registers to ensure effective systems are in place. The day to day will include Field preparation, crop planting and maintenance as required, including fertilizer and agricultural chemical application and irrigation as well as crop harvesting and accurate record keeping.What you will needYour experience in agriculture, horticulture, plant breeding or related field work will be essential, coupled with a relevant qualification and/or experience in quality systems, health, safety and compliance. With a well developed understanding of the systems and procedures required to support safe farm or remote field practices and good attention to detail with the ability to visual identify superior plant individuals.A self motivated team player you will be physical fit and able to carry out heavy and manual tasks working both inside and outside. A full drivers license will be essential, with HR and experience in tractors and farm machinery beneficial. A growsafe certificate and the ability to apply sprays following procedures and PPE practices will be essential, with training and certification through PFR available if required.What you will getA standard 38 hour working week, this role will require longer hours in peak periods such as planting and harvesting.
