Do you have a background in accounting administration and you’re looking to do something a little different? We have an interesting position available with a successful NZ business who has built a great culture in their small team, where everyone gets on well and knows how to have a laugh. This company has very low turnover and knows how to look after their staff. This role would suit someone who has a good base of accounts knowledge and is wanting to challenge themselves to take on more accounting work as well as gain exposure to the world of trade finance. The role is a mix of the two disciplines and will give the successful candidate plenty of variety and scope to learn.

Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager, this position has been created to meet the growing needs of the business. Working as part of a small team in open plan offices, this role offers plenty of variety and encompasses both accounting support and trade finance duties including:

  • Checking purchase invoices against quantities and prices and inputting into MYOB
  • Reconciling accounts payable statements and processing payments
  • Debtor receipting, receiving payments from clients and liaising with logistics team on status
  • Daily bank reconciliations of NZD and foreign currency bank accounts
  • Assisting with month end accounts including GL journal entries and reconciliation of job costings
  • Arranging foreign exchange contracts and maintaining Excel spreadsheet
  • Inputting export sales invoices into MYOB from the shipping documentation system
  • Trade financing including processing new trade loans and repayments & monitoring cashflow
  • Reconciling inventory and maintaining the fixed asset register
  • General accounts queries and office administration as required

To be considered for this position you will have previous experience in an accounting support role where you have assisted in the preparation of monthly accounts and the reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Experience with foreign currency transactions and bank trade loans would also be an advantage. Intermediate level Excel is essential along with experience in an accounting package such as MYOB or Xero or similar. These technical requirements then need to be balanced with excellent attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, a positive attitude and willingness to be a team player. Then topped off with a friendly and open communication style and a great sense of humour.
