Te tūranga – The role

The Industry Insights and Thematics (IIT) team is responsible for leading delivery of thematic reviews on risk, governance and compliance across banks, insurers and other regulated sectors.

As Adviser (IIT), you’ll lead the delivery of thematic reviews. This is done through in-depth desktop analysis, theme-based onsite meetings and publication of thematic reports. You will also provide advice to other areas of the Reserve Bank and engage with industry to support the implementation of our recommendations.

Bringing your expert writing skills, you’ll enjoy leading the publishing of thematic reports which aim to lift the regulatory and compliance standards of financial institutions. 

You’ll take a lead role in the engagement and build collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You’ll champion our vision of Great Team and Best Central Bank.

As the technical lead within the team, you’ll play an active role in the coaching and development of other team members. This is a collaborative working environment with opportunities to support high-level projects, and impact real change in the financial services sector.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring:

 Effective relationship management and engagement skills

  • Professional broad-based experience in risk, compliance or regulation, ideally within the financial services sector.
  • The ability to guide, mentor and encourage team members with varying experience levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities, with financial data experience being a plus
  • A positive, energetic and “can-do” attitude.
