About our team | Mō tō mātou rōpū

The Ministerial Services team is responsible for management of ministerial correspondence and support within MPI. The team provides a crucial link between MPI and our three Ministers and seven portfolios, ensuring the Ministers are well supported to do their job. The team operates within a fast paced environment, managing over 4,000 items to Ministers each year and working right across MPI and its wide variety of functions.

 

About the role | Kōrero mō te tūranga

The Adviser roles in the team are responsible for managing the process for Ministers Weekly Reports, regular meetings with officials and the Ministry’s relationship with Select Committees. They are also responsible for supporting the Team Manager in managing the team, the function and leading process improvement initiatives as needed.

Key requirements for the position are:

  • Previous experience in a ministerial servicing, administration or closely related role.
  • An understanding of the role of ministerial servicing in the machinery of government, and of the relationship between Ministers and the public sector.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • A proven ability to deliver quality material on time.
  • Good knowledge and experience working with standard Microsoft Office software products e.g. Word, Excel.
  • The ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to tight timeframes with a capacity to multi task effectively.
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills.

 

To be considered for this role, you will also require Low level Security Clearance

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided continuously in NZ for at least the last five (5) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
