The Ombudsman helps New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. We handle complaints against government agencies, review decisions under the official information legislation, undertake investigations, carry out monitoring and inspections under human rights conventions, and encourage good administration. Our Strategic Advice Team provides high level strategic advice on matters relating to policy and practice, and guidance and training within our Office and to external agencies. In addition, team members contribute their subject matter expertise and strategic advice in support of communications, knowledge management, research and evaluation and international relations.
We currently have an opportunity for a 12 month fixed term Advisor in our Strategic Advice Team based in Wellington. You will provide policy and practice advice on matters of significant public interest, with the support of a highly skilled team of Principal Advisors and Senior Advisors. You will assist with the Office’s internal training programme and the implementation of quality assurance processes and systems within the Office. Your understanding of our jurisdiction and excellent analytical and writing skills will be crucial in this role.
