At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) we are focusing on the future by modernising our technology and the services we provide to remain connected, innovative and flexible.

New Zealand currently ranks number one in the World Bank doing business rankings for registering property, but we want to be bolder. We are on a mission to help New Zealand retain and enhance its’ world class property system and to meet the needs of the 21st century. We have initiated a long-term programme to rebuild Landonline, the system used to manage New Zealand’s land information, and we are looking for people to join the team and make a valuable contribution to a programme of work that will have a positive impact across New Zealand.

Landonline is crucial to supporting the New Zealand way of life. There’s no other way to buy land or a house in New Zealand, and it provides important information to be able to respond to emergencies, natural disasters and biosecurity concerns. We are looking for motivated people who are keen to share their knowledge in our diverse, agile team environment.

About the role

We are looking for an Agile Business Analyst (BA) to hit the ground running and work closely with the Product Owner to elaborate the future state for business systems, functions and processes, including the creation of a viable, value driven backlog.

They will focus on problem solving and addressing identified business needs, as well as exploring new opportunities. A core member of the Squad, the BA will work with other squad members to ensure user stories meet the team’s definition of ‘ready to take in to build’ on their respective backlogs.

About you

Relationships and collaboration within your squad and across the business are critical to success in this role. You will have strong communications skills and a successful track record building trusted relationships to understand and address key stakeholder needs.

You will also have:

  • Previous experience as a Business Analyst with strong business process analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability writing user stories, understanding benefits and values, estimation, facilitation and testing
  • Experience coaching and supporting mindset change towards agile/lean approaches
  • Strong analytical skills and a wide range of demonstrable knowledge across business systems and processes
  • Continuous improvement mindset and a solutions approach to your work

This is your wider opportunity to join us and make a meaningful contribution to the rebuild of Landonline and LINZ’s wider transformation to deliver more value for New Zealand.

We know your CV will highlight your technical skills and experience and you will be given the opportunity to learn and grow, but what we really need is your passion, collaboration and courage.

At LINZ we are committed to developing and promoting an environment where our people feel included and valued. If you don’t feel you have all of the experience, we’re looking for but have the willingness to learn and align with our way of working, please consider applying. We believe skills are transferable, and enthusiasm goes a long way.
