About the role

Responsible for facilitating agile practices and ensuring teams understand the value of the agile lifecycle and process. You will ensure that the team adheres to agile thinking, theory, and practices, lead the teams through the agile process, and help resolve any issues that may arise throughout the course of the agile lifecycle. You will remove impediments, or find the right personnel to do so, while helping the Team create and manage clear and validated product backlog items.

The Agile Facilitator works very closely with the ICT Product Managers and Product Owners.

Key part of the role will be building a trusting and safe environment (where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving). At times, you may be required to mediate conflict, along with having honest and tough conversations both within the team and with Product Owners.

Ideally you will have at least two years’ experience within an Agile or Kanban role, within a software development environment. You will have knowledge and experience in numerous well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum approach (examples: Sprint sizing, numerous burndown techniques, Release Train, retrospectives, handling re-work, etc.).

The role of Business Technology & Information Services (BT&IS) is to enable business technology solutions and deliver high quality, cost effective Information & Technology services to Ministry staff and external stakeholders. We do this by partnering with business units to ensure we work closely with managers and staff, so we understand how each business area operates, and what is expected of our teams.

We are in the process of transitioning to a product focussed, Agile environment, and need to add agile facilitation / scrum capability to our fantastic team.
