The TEC – Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government’s relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

Our Fund Specialists team aims to increase the value of the TEC’s investments in tertiary education.  Our work spans tertiary research, degree-level education, and vocational training.  The team reviews and processes payments, manages and maintains key data in TEC’s financial systems, understands and develops the funding rules for each Fund, and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement. Fund Analysts review and process payments, manage and maintain key data in TEC’s financial systems, understand and develop the funding rules for each Fund, and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. To support this, we are looking for an Analyst to join the team.

 

What will you be doing?

  • You will be working with and supporting the team on our funding management process.
  • You will maintain key datasets in TEC’s finance system, Technology One, such as the master lists of prices, the funding allocated to providers, their payment schedules and requests for payments.
  • You will use movements across the multi-category- appropriation and balance sheet funds to maximise the utility of government funding.
  • You will support the team to maintain a full picture of tertiary education providers, system performance and need over a range of criteria whilst maintaining up to date business process maps for the end to end investment process.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Experience in financial systems, knowledge of government and /or education sector funding.
  • Data analysis skills with the ability to provide explanations and insights from data ensuring that our databases and processes are consistent and trustworthy.
  • You will have experience in working in a corporate environment and working with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • A tertiary qualification in finance, social science or commerce.
