At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), our key role is to ensure that all New Zealanders have accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights and that Crown property is well managed for future generations. To help us achieve this, our Policy and Overseas Investment (POI) Group have designed a comprehensive work programme, prioritised to provide benefits for our customers and ensure a long-term, prosperous New Zealand.
Our Overseas Investment Office sits within the POI team. It’s an exciting time for us. We’re going through an accelerated developmental process. It’s a dynamic environment that is consistently shifting to meet the regulatory challenges that the team is being presented with and we’re on the lookout for a passionate and enthusiastic Operations Advisor to join us on a fixed term contract.
This role would give the right candidate an ideal opportunity to build upon their experience in a fast-paced regulatory environment that has high political and general public interest. “Assess” will be your key word in this role. You’ll have the opportunity to assess and process applications and find the balance between implementing operational process and dealing with overarching legislative interpretation. We need someone with a good level of smarts, someone who can assess and analyse a problem and ask the right questions to get the problem solved.
Our friendly and savvy team will be supporting you to further build up your professional skill in the best way possible. This position would give you an excellent opportunity to further your knowledge of Agile working principles. You’ll have excellent attention to detail combined with a flexible mindset – someone who thinks in shades of grey, rather than black and white as you move through the different functions of the role.
You’ll consider staying up to date a fundamental part of your role. It will be a natural inclination for you to continually scan both the internal and external environments (particularly the media…) to keep abreast of contextual issues and operational risks. You’ll use your sharp, analytical mindset to assess what issues and opportunities these may present to our team in the Overseas Investment Office. Communication skills are key for this position. You’ll be a natural communicator, clear and comfortable when engaging with a broad variety of customers and conveying complex information.
This is a role you can really own. There will be a high degree of autonomy. Compared to some of our other Government Agency counterparts we are a smaller team. For you though, this could be invaluable. That smaller size means you get involved on our projects at a much larger scale & pick up a much broader set of skills.
To apply, please click “Apply Online.” You’ll be taken through to our LINZ Careers Centre where you’ll be able to review further information about the responsibilities and accountabilities of this role in the Position Description. You’ll be able to complete your online application form and upload a copy of your CV/Cover Letter. Please keep in mind when including your CV to specifically highlight the capabilities and skills listed in the above ad and the position description.
Applications Close Wednesday 4th March 2020
