New Zealand Māori Rugby Board – Appointed and Independent Board Member vacancies
The New Zealand Māori Rugby Board Incorporated (“NZMRB”) invites applications for two Board Member positions on its Board. The vacancies relate to terms of three (3) years, commencing on or about 28 April 2021. One of the vacancies is for a person who is independent of the Regional Māori Rugby Boards, while the other vacancy is for a person who is preferably recommended by a Regional Māori Rugby Board, but not necessarily a member of one of the Regional Māori Boards (Te Hiku o te Ika, Te Tini a Maui, Te Wai Pounamu). Both successful candidates will be appointed by the NZMRB’s Appointment Committee.
Please note that the incumbent Board members, Merewaakana Kingi and Doug Jones are eligible to apply for reappointment, and it is understood that they intend to do so.
NZMRB’s objectives are to promote and develop rugby pathways amongst Māori, to monitor the Regional Māori Rugby Boards, to establish arrangements for Māori rugby tournaments and other events, to seek and distribute funding and sponsorship for Māori rugby and to advocate on behalf of Māori rugby.
The roles require a governance focus, with responsibility for setting the strategic direction for Māori rugby in New Zealand. Applicants for the positions will have knowledge of Tikanga and Te Reo, and skills and experience from the corporate, commercial, government, sports or community sectors that complement and strengthen the expertise of the NZ Māori Rugby Board.
Applications for the positions should be made on the form that can be obtained by contacting [email protected] Contact details for the Regional Māori Rugby Boards will be available with the application form, for those wishing to seek the recommendation of one of those Boards.
Applications close Thursday 1 April 2021 at 5.00pm.
