What you will do
In this role you will provide effective management of GNZ’s Foundation Production outputs, and contribute to the strategic management of GNZ as an organisation. Principally you will be responsible for the day to day management of geospatial programmes of work and the management of human resources. As part of the wider management team, you will be focused on technical developments and innovations to provide enhanced performance within production and efficiency.
This role is offered as a three year fixed term opportunity.
What we need
We are seeking a person with a broad knowledge of user requirements management and production process in the geospatial discipline, covering a majority of the following subject areas: geospatial-intelligence, imagery, topographic, aeronautical and hydrographic. You will have an excellent understanding of the diversity of the geospatial industry and geospatial applications, data, hardware and production methods and have demonstrative competence in the use of GIS, Microsoft Office and project planning applications.
This role will see you managing a team of six direct reports. They are a diverse team of geospatial specialists who produce outputs to a very defined standard. Proven leadership experience is essential as is the ability to mentor your direct reports and their staff. Operational management isn’t new to you and as a senior manager you will have had exposure to process management, change management and quality management.
Highly developed interpersonal skills combined with strong communication skills enable you to write and produce resources for a wide and diverse target audience. Being able to maintain and develop robust working relationships across NZDF, other government departments and our overseas allies will be key to your success.
In terms of qualifications we are looking for Post-graduate qualification in GIS or a related technical field (e.g. business); or equivalent relevant professional experience. You will need to be able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
