At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), our key role is to ensure New Zealand has accurate location information, people can have confidence in their property rights and Crown property is well managed for future generations.
LINZ is undergoing a period of change which will see us transform and revolutionise the way we incorporate technology into the service we provide for all New Zealanders.
To support us in this journey, we have a position available for an Assistant Surveyor General to join us in our Surveying Compliance space. This role offers you a chance to set the standards for compliance and lead us through the management and ongoing enforcement of technical and regulatory functions, as they relate to surveying.
Along with your strong technical leadership and significant surveying experience in NZ, you’ll have an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the sensitivities of working in a regulatory environment.
This role offers the right candidate a tangible opportunity to make an impact on the New Zealand economy through state guarantee of title & making sure our processes are being implemented correctly. If you’re looking to take on a position of influence within the surveying industry, this role would be a welcome challenge for you.
This role has an initial focus on compliance and compliance management which will evolve with us as we transform. You’ll demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the national regulations and standards for surveying, combined with the integrity and emotional maturity to appropriately manage complex compliance issues and uphold best practice standards.
You’ll be charged with overseeing the management of complaints and survey investigations and working collaboratively with our Principal Cadastral surveyor to manage the audit process, efficiently and effectively advising the Surveyor General on matters relating to issues of compliance and performance of surveyors.
You’ll be able to show that you’re not just a good surveyor, but that you also understand the broader surveying system and can craft strategies that assess areas of improvement and pragmatically future proof our policies. From this position, you’ll collaborate with our team on their own areas of focus and together work to shape the face of the surveying industry in the future.
You’ll embrace the evolving technology available to our industry and will actively think about how we can utilise this technology to improve the work we do.
There are a lot of exciting changes happening at LINZ and this role is a great opportunity to get involved on the ground level of that and be apart of the broader LINZ initiatives.
