Marlborough Police have a great opportunity for someone to come and work in Blenheim, a fantastic part of the country with the Marlborough Sounds gateway right on your doorstep. We are seeking a positive and energetic person for our Authorised Officer position in Blenheim.


As an Authorised Officers you will be trained to support frontline staff to secure crime scenes, transport prisoners between stations and manage prisoners in Police or Court cells.


The role of the Authorised Officer is to ensure the safe, secure and humane containment and transportation of detainees with in the Police Custody environment. A Custody environment is any location where a person is in police custody, including cells, courtrooms, prisons, hospitals and the transit between locations.



 Skills and Experiences:

  • Demonstrate ability to work unsupervised in accordance with set procedure and policy
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and ensure the safety of others under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Demonstrate computer skills in processing and receiving information.



To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a New Zealand or Australian citizen, or a New Zealand Permanent Resident.
  • Must be available and able to work shift work
  • Must have a current full New Zealand drivers licence
  • Must not have any criminal convictions.

Special Requirements:

  • Authorised Officer Roles require a degree of fitness and health standards in order to safely perform the duties of the role.
  • Applicants must pass a Police Physical Competency Test (PCT) prior to being offered a position and commencing training: advice contains a video demonstrating the PCT.
  • You will be required to have a current first aid certificate
