Attention all Business Analysts or those with a public sector technology background looking for a change. Are you looking to broaden your horizons with a job that offers variety and skill development opportunities? This is an opportunity not to be missed.

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake(the Office) is focused on significantly enhancing its influence and impact on the public sector to deliver better results for Aotearoa New Zealand. The Office is dedicated to making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders by helping to continuously improve the public’s trust in public services and the value those services deliver.

The Technical Business Analyst will be actively involved in the execution of a major and long-term strategic plan centred on cloud technologies. You’ll be part of the Information Services Group. The Group has a new five-year Information Systems Strategy to deliver together with our business groups. We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst to apply their analysis skills to a range of functions for the organisation, including capturing business and technology requirements, documenting processes, systems and architecture, and supporting testing, change, and communications.

As the Technical Business Analyst, you’ll be part of a small collaborative team working with the organisation to design, develop, and deliver technical solutions to increase productivity, improve efficiency, and align with organisational strategy.  You’ll provide pragmatic and practical specialist advice to members of staff and support the Information Services Group’s broad range of functions: infrastructure, applications, information security, and information management.

To be successful you’ll have:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • a flexible, proactive, and collaborative mindset;
  • the ability to think broadly and deeply about problems and potential solutions;
  • a sound knowledge of technology;
  • the ability to pick up unfamiliar technologies or processes and get up to speed with them quickly; and
  • experience facilitating small to medium workshops.

It would be an advantage to have:

  • at least two years demonstrable experience in gathering, analysing, and documenting business and technical requirements;
  • familiarity with public sector standards and processes;
  • a relevant tertiary qualification or professional qualification, such as CCBA or CBAP;
  • experience in Business Process Modelling; and
  • software testing or software development experience.

Our benefits

  • Learning and development opportunities.
  • Flexible working.
  • A unique operating environment with Parliament.

Ordinarily, this means that you must be a New Zealand citizen, be a permanent resident, or hold a current residency class visa and intend to become a citizen when eligible. You must have a five-year checkable background in NZ, UK, USA, Canada, or Australia. Use the online tool www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz/eligibility-tool to self-check your eligibility for a security clearance.
