What you will do

As the Business Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and delivery of vendor development of the Mission Essential Task Information System (METIS) solution to NZDF requirements. You will provide robust business analysis, advice and verification of requirements documentation, including translating user needs into functional requirements and technical specifications.

The role will also facilitate and encourage further improvement into two key applications including related organisational processes and practices.  You will be responsible for:

  • Advocating for the solution;
  • Providing verification testing of change;
  • Maintaining system documentation;
  • Consulting with stakeholders in order to clarify common requirements;
  • Coordinating the implementation of system changes;
  • Managing the Requests for Change (RFC) pipeline of work though analysing user requests, prioritising them and scheduling development work;
  • Managing and coordinate projects on behalf of the METIS Solution Manager.

What we need

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced analyst who has the ability to understand and define solutions for complex business problems. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate across an organisation.  Additionally you will need to:

  • Have demonstrable experience working within an Agile or DevOps framework;
  • Be experienced in working on a variety of projects across different industry domains;
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Be willing and able to travel domestically from time to time.

Who we are

Defence Strategy Management supports the Chief of Defence Force’s strategy and planning, organisation-wide risk management, performance management and governance arrangements.

This includes:

  • Leading strategic planning and foresight of the New Zealand Defence Force’s strategy;
  • Leading the Defence Force’s strategic, four-year and annual planning processes, ensuring supporting plans are aligned with the Defence Force’s objectives;
  • Developing risk management strategies and processes and guiding the delivery of these throughout all levels of the Defence Force;
  • Providing Strategic portfolio definition and prioritisation;
  • Monitoring the delivery of plans and providing advice to improve planning performance;
  • Preparation of external accountability documents for the Chief of Defence Forces;
  • Governance support and advice.
