Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors.

Te Papa is seeking hospitality professionals who have an eye for detail, thrive on the challenge of working in a high volume dining outlet, can confidently lead staff and oversee shift operations and enjoy working in a close-knit team in a fast paced environment.  To be successful in this role you will be a proven hands-on leader with the ability to drive team members, achieve strong financial results and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.  Additionally, a strong focus on training and development of team members is required and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience at leading and inspiring their staff.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol with NZ Manager’s Certificate
  • POS and cash management experience
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of food and outlet hygiene requirements and standards, and current practices in food handling and food safety
  • Understanding of and ability to roster within payroll budgets
  • Experience supervising and training staff to ensure the highest levels of professionalism and service
  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory position in a multi- food outlet operation, and willingness to work across Te Papa’s multiple food and beverage outlets
  • The ability to multi task and thrive in high pressure situations
  • A professional can do attitude
  • Excellent presentation and personal grooming standards


We operate 364 days annually, and flexibility in relation to hours of work, in particular early mornings, evenings and weekend work is essential.
