The Tax Counsel Office (TCO) will be established in February 2020 in succession to the Office of the Chief Tax Counsel (OCTC). The business group will continue to be responsible for furnishing technical advice, specifically about the interpretation and application of taxation law. It will also provide a range of related advice and services to both internal and external customers.

As part of the TCO a number of Capability and Outcomes roles will be established to assist and support the move to new ways of working. These roles will provide a range of services within the TCO, and work with others across IR.

These include:

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of business plans, strategies and approaches to support the delivery of business and customer outcomes
  • Working with leaders to plan and determine performance outcomes and identify resource requirements, interdependencies and opportunities within the TCO and across IR to deliver on plans
  • Identifying emerging trends and providing thought leadership to support the development of innovative customer and business solutions
  • Designing and facilitating TCO’s performance and planning infrastructure and fit for purpose adaptable frameworks and tools to support delivery of business and customer outcomes
  • Providing advice and leadership to the TCO to inform quality decision making

This position will also give you an excellent opportunity to further develop your mentoring and coaching skills as you share your experience and expertise with the wider team.

We are looking for a Capability and Outcomes Specialist who can demonstrate experience of quality decision making, workforce management, business acumen and partnering and providing advice to a range of customers. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to apply your skills and experience to:

  • Provide advice and analysis to support strategic planning and business performance
  • Build strong relationships and work in a networked way across TCO and IR, using insights gained to develop solutions for customers
  • Develop and implement appropriate solutions and organisational processes to enhance business performance
  • Manage and monitor performance outcomes and risks and make recommendations to support better business and customer outcomes.
