As a Case Manager you provide specialist, end-to-end case management of prisoners including the initial assessment and identification of prisoner needs, case planning and preparing prisoners for release/transfer. You are also required to write comprehensive reports for the New Zealand Parole Board.

Using a range of services and techniques, you work directly with our prisoners, external agencies and the prisoner’s families to support their adjustment to our facility and their rehabilitation. Central to your success as a Case Manager is the ability to exercise sound professional judgement ensuring that a prisoner’s needs and services are appropriately identified, and treatment and programmes are well aligned.

You will be joining our busy team at Mt Eden Corrections Facility.  We are keen to hear from candidates who already possess demonstrated career experience and strong transferrable skills gained from working in a range of similar roles.  Preference will be given to applicants who have; 

  • Demonstrated proven knowledge and experience in case management and/or rehabilitation and reintegration related disciplines and practices
  • The ability to operate safely and effectively within a correctional environment
  • Excellent report writing and administration skills
  • Highly developed relationship management and communication skills
  • The ability to influence, motivate and support prisoners
  • Experience in gaining successful outcomes from working with and alongside Maori and Pacific peoples, their families and communities
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • The ability to take on feedback in a highly reflective environment
  • A current and full New Zealand driver licence
  • A tertiary qualification relevant to the role (preferable but not essential)
