Our client are looking for an experienced cheese maker that can call this project their own. You will be working for a brand new start-up with a niche product.
Position Summary: The duties for this full-time, year round position includes all processes related to the production and aging of cheese and maintenance of related paperwork for each batch. This position will work closely with a small team of people to execute daily operations of the production process, monitor and maintain products in the aging cellars, and coordinate packaging for retail and wholesale distribution.
This position will spend a significant amount of time working independently but will also work as part of a team. Communication with other areas of the business are important. Attention to detail is very important in all areas of the position to ensure the safe production of cheese, adherence to recipes, noticing and responding to seasonal changes in milk, aging environment variations, and the safe and effective operation of equipment.
Lead the production of all the cheeses in our repertoire.
Follow and direct others in following maintenance and sanitation protocols.
Troubleshoot inconsistencies with the products as needed.
Maintain all required records, inventories, recipes and data.
At least 2 years of professional cheese making experience, and a love for the science and craft of cheesemaking.
Some management experience.
