Kaitiakitanga – We lead the Ministry’s response to its obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori health aspirations and requirements, and equity in health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
The Chief Advisor Māori Crown Relationships provides leadership and technical advice on Māori Crown relations, including the engagement in Treaty settlement processes and especially Iwi and Māori relationships with District Health Boards.
In this pivotal role you will have significant experience operating at a strategic and tactical level. Your relationship/stakeholder management skills will be exemplary enabling you to develop and influence others across the Ministry, wider health sector and with other external stakeholders. You will have extensive networks with iwi and ideally across the health sector. To be sucessful in this role you will also have a sound understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori. Your strategic understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi will enable you to implement the treaty principles into planning around historical and contemporary claims.
