About the team and the role

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager to lead our International Engagement and Coordination team within Regulatory Systems Design group. If you have a passion for leading professionals working in a diverse and dynamic international policy, regulatory and response environment, then this position may be suitable for you. This role requires experience in senior management and leadership, preferably in the public sector, and offers the opportunity to develop a small team of professionals enhancing the team, their career opportunities and direction.

The team has a key role in influencing international maritime outcomes that serve New Zealand’s interests and contribute to a global rules-based system for improving maritime safety, security, and environmental outcomes.

About you

As the Chief of International Engagement you will be responsible for leading the development of a whole of organisation international programme, providing strategic advice and direction in the international policy settings and design including their adoption into domestic frameworks, leading or facilitating cross government engagement on international maritime matters and leading or supporting international engagements and negotiations.

You will join a team of managers within the Regulatory Systems Design group who are tasked with providing clear and dynamic leadership for the group and contributing to Maritime New Zealand’s leadership capabilities.

To be successful in this role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications, and proven experience and knowledge in international policy, international affairs and bilateral and multilateral negotiations. You will have had proven success in leadership and/or people management roles and the ability to manage and motivate your professional team. Building and maintaining effective relationships, both within Maritime NZ and externally is a key part of this role.
