Day Patients – Timaru Hospital

Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

Right now, we’re looking for a Registered Nurse with lots of experience behind them to step up to the role of Nurse Co-ordinator. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of a truly varied role, where there is never a dull moment or a day that looks like another!

You will be supporting and overseeing a team committed to providing contemporary patient care. Plus, you will only be working on weekdays, during office hours, with no shift work required.

You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of Day Patient Services (DPS) as part of the wider Surgical Services department. This will include maintaining DPS roster, managing resources, actively overseeing clinical practice and ensuring multi-disciplinary team involvement in patient care delivery.

Ideally you will have previous experience in a team co-ordinating role, or hold strong aspirations toward taking on a leadership role. We are looking for someone who has what it takes to effectively lead a team; including the ability to problem solve, demonstrate sound professional judgement with excellent communication skills. An extensive post graduate experience in surgical and medical nursing will be an advantage.

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs our people always have room to move and grow – you’ll get a wider exposure to specialties and enjoy the benefits of a flat structure: processes that run smoothly and a fun, friendly culture. With us, you’re more than just a number; you’re part of a team where everyone knows your name. You’ll be supported to thrive through our many professional development opportunities and have the chance to share your expertise as part of our graduate mentoring programme.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.

Apply now – this is your moment to take the next step in your career – this moment is yours!

We look forward to receiving your application directly via our Careers Site.
