The Team: What we do

We are seeking a senior Registered Nurse, with experience in leadership, for our 0.8 FTE permanent clinical nurse specialist position.

Our Specialist Diabetes services in Canterbury work closely supporting general practice in providing assessment, Diabetes treatment and self-management in partnership with our community diabetes nursing team and hospital nursing teams. This role be will be based in the Christchurch Outpatients building working Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.

The Role: Where you fit in

As a Registered Nurse with ideally at least five years experience working within the specialist of Diabetes (or relevant senior nursing role) you will be an expert at leading and developing nursing practice, auditing, quality improvement and improving overall clinical expertise with strength in advancing technologies supporting advance self-management and clinical outcomes.

As a role model you will engage with nursing staff and members of the multi-disciplinary team, along to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained between the community and both inpatient services and the NGO sector. Integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, effective organisational and time management skills and clinical credibility are imperative to your success in this role.

Motivation and the ability to engage people will be a strength along with excellent clinical assessment, education and communication skills in addition to expert nursing knowledge and extensive clinical experience is essential for this significant role.

You will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a cohesive multi-disciplinary team. You will provide leadership within the CNS nursing group. You will have good computer literacy and ease with advancing technologies supporting health care as an essential skill within today’s health workforce. You will be provided all the necessary devices to support your practice both in the Diabetes Centre and off site.

Obtainment and commitment to post graduate study is an essential component of this role, either having completed or being on the post graduate pathway to complete within an agreed timeframe. Holding a relevant Post Graduate Diploma, aligned to the Diabetes speciality with a future interest in Nurse Prescribing would be highly valued.
