We take pride in all the services we provide and our aim is to improve, promote and protect the health of our region. About the team

The Child Development Service is a team of experienced Allied Health Therapists who work with children and their families who live in the Coastal Otago region. We are a child and family focussed service and as such we work in either centre or community settings.

About the role – what’s in it for me?

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Children’s Outpatients team here at Dunedin Hospital. This role, whilst based in Dunedin has a district wide focus, therefore some travel may be required.

You will be working with children and young people (and their families and caregivers) to provide a wide range of psychological services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • knowledgeable and experienced in the child and adolescent mental health field
  • experienced in clinical neuropsychology testing with children
  • able to demonstrate excellent assessment (including risk assessment), formulation, and treatment planning and therapy skills
  • a confident and effective communicator, truly passionate about your work
  • unwavering in their belief in people’s recovery.

To be considered you must be registered with the NZ Psychologists Board with a Clinical Psychologist scope and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate. A current NZ driver’s licence will also be required.

The Children’s Outpatients team offer a warm and welcoming work place with a supportive environment where professional development is encouraged and supported. If you are looking to use your expertise to provide support to the young members of our community, we would love to hear from you!

The Southern district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education, affordable housing and outstanding recreational opportunities. Whether it’s surfing, kayaking or sailing; skiing, hunting or fishing; theatre, live-music or art – there’s literally something for everyone. Check out for what the region, and we, can offer you and your whanau.

Closing date: Tuesday, 18 February 2020.
