The Team: What we do

The South Island Eating Disorders Service based at The Princess Margaret Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient treatment, education and liaison services for people under a mental health service with a diagnosed eating disorder. We are a small but experienced multidisciplinary team who are passionate about ensuring the best health outcomes for service consumers.

We’re looking for a New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist with current Annual Practising Certificate (or eligibility to obtain) to join us on a permanent, part-time basis working 32 hours per week. How these hours are arranged is to be negotiated with the successful applicant. This role also involves travel for our Regional Service throughout areas of the South Island.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Clinical assessment, diagnostics and treatment of clients, utilising both individual and group therapy
  • Utilising behavioural and psychometric assessment where appropriate
  • Liaising and consulting with external agencies such as NGOs and other medical professionals within the Eating Disorders Service and the wider SMHS

Your skills will include the following:

  • Proven ability/experience conducting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and psycho-based therapies
  • Experience within a similar area is advantageous, however we would also consider applications from anew graduates who are passionate mental health and eating disorders
  • Registration with the NZ Psychology Board and Annual Practicing Certificate (or eligibility to obtain) is essential
  • As there will be the requirement to travel as part of the Regional Service, a full NZ driver’s licence is essential
