The Team: What we do

The Adult Community Mental Health Service at Hillmorton Hospital provides treatment for people aged 18-65 years who suffer from a wide range of mental disorders. We’re looking for an experienced New Zealand Registered Social Worker to join us in this permanent part-time position in our West sector working 36 hours per week!

This is an opportunity to work with a skilled and motivated team of multi-disciplinary professionals. Working in this position you will provide excellent holistic case management in partnership with the clients, their families/whanau and carers with a strong focus on returning clients to the primary health care sector. Your ability to work with a responsive community-based focus to support people to remain in the community, alongside working in an integrated manner with our inpatient team to develop sound, effective working relationships with clients and community resources will be highly valued.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, case management and therapeutic intervention for our clients
  • Regularly developing and reviewing a job plan and caseload with the Clinical Manager
  • Building relationships with consumers and their families/whanau
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working alongside the Clinical Manager to provide clinical leadership
  • Facilitating high quality social work practice and providing expert clinical knowledge and leadership
  • Adherence to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi

Your skills will include the following:

  • NZ registration with the Social Worker Board and annual practising certificate
  • Strong clinical/organisational skills and well-developed clinical experience Adult Mental Health
  • Experience in outpatient case management (assessment and treatment), clinical teaching, supervision and supporting and championing change in clinical settings as part of a team is advantageous
