Toprovide specialist assessments, counselling and support to Rangatahi referredwith substance abuse/dependency which are associated with other mental healthissues and to liaison with other mentalhealth and AOD services for the purpose of referrals when required.

Duties

  • Appropriate/effective assessment and intervention forRangatahi with consultation as required
  • Assessment and intervention which is culturally sensitive(advanced level)
  • Contribute to Rangatahi care by interacting effectively withmulti-disciplinary team/health care members

    • Skills & Experience

  • NZ Registered Social Worker, Nurse or Counsellor & Registered member of DAPAANZ (Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association of Aotearoa NZ)
  • Current practicing certificate
  • Clean/full driver’s licence
  • Knowledge & experience in individual counselling and support
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of cultural concepts and Maori models of practice eg. Pounamu and Te Whare Tapa Wha
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of racism and discrimination in relation to mental health, and the care and treatment of people with mental illness
  • Experience with assessment and treatment of young people and their families
