WellKiwis Study Coordinator – Midwifery Engagement and Participant Recruitment Fixed Term – 1 yearInstitute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR), WallacevilleAbout ESRESR is a Crown Research Institute, working with and for clients and stakeholders to deliver enhanced scientific research services for the economic, environmental and social wellbeing of New Zealand. ESR has approximately 400 staff with sites across New Zealand.We are currently seeking someone with a ‘can do’ attitude and the skills to match, to take up a one-year fixed term role within our WellKiwis research team at our National Centre for Biosecurity and Infectious Disease (NCBID), Wallaceville location.About the WellKiwis Infant StudyThe Wellkiwis Infant study is recruiting 600 newborns in the Wellington region, to follow over seven years to see how their first exposure to the flu virus or vaccine influences their immunity to subsequent flu exposures. The purpose of the study is to provide information to make more effective and longer lasting universal influenza vaccines for our populations in the future Your new roleReporting to the study Principal Investigator, you will be responsible for developing, operationalising and evaluating ongoing midwifery and direct participant engagement strategies to meet recruitment targets. You will maintain a productive relationship with Lead Maternity Carers and midwives and other key stakeholders across the sector while promoting the WellKiwis study in a cultural, professional and ethical manner. Once the cohort is established, you will be involved in continuous participant engagement and retention. You are expected to contribute to the scientific life of ESR by promoting a culture of open, ethical, relevant and publicly responsive scientific inquiry.You will work closely with a collaborative team that values initiative being taken and open communication on the operational pressure points and solution-focus approach to ongoing challenges to achieve study milestones and deliverables in a complex and changing healthcare environment.What you’ll need to succeedTertiary qualificationAt least 5 years of working experience in midwiferyGood relationships with LMCs and HVDHB/CCDHB midwifery across the Wellington regionAn understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in relation to the research environmentGood understanding of Microsoft Office SuiteDemonstrated ability to develop effective relationships, with emphasis on sound business partneringDemonstrated highly effective interpersonal and written communication abilitiesDemonstrated ability to organise self and team to meet deadlines and triage and manage conflicting deadlines and requirementsA strong customer services orientation and a demonstrated commitment to and provision of quality servicesFull driver’s licence (comfortable driving around the Wellington region visiting various groups, venues and events)What you’ll get in return You will get to work on the exciting research projects [WellKiwis (i.e. SHIVERS)] of International and National significance.
