WellKiwis Study Coordinator – Midwifery Engagement and Participant RecruitmentWallaceville, Upper HuttFixed Term (0.4 to 1.0 FTE) 1 year – potential to be extended.Salary – community midwifery scale 7 or above.About ESRESR is a Crown Research Institute, working with and for clients and stakeholders to deliver enhanced scientific research services for the economic, environmental and social wellbeing of New Zealand. ESR has approximately 400 staff with sites across New Zealand.About the WellKiwis Infant StudyThe Wellkiwis Infant study is recruiting 600 newborns in the Wellington region, to follow over seven years to see how their first exposure to the flu virus or vaccine influences their immunity to subsequent flu exposures. The purpose of the study is to provide information to make more effective and longer lasting universal influenza vaccines for our populations in the future.Your roleYou will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating ongoing midwifery and direct participant engagement strategies to meet recruitment targets. You will maintain productive relationships with Lead Maternity Carers, employed midwives and other key stakeholders across the sector while promoting the WellKiwis study in a culturally safe, professional and ethical manner. You will work closely with a collaborative team that values initiative being taken and open communication on the operational pressure points and solution-focus approach to ongoing challenges to achieve study milestones and deliverables in a complex and changing healthcare environment.What you’ll need to succeed• Tertiary qualification • Ideally at least 5 years of work experience in midwifery • Good relationships with LMC and employed midwives practicing in the Hutt Valley and/or Capital and Coast DHB areas.• An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in relation to the research environment• Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite• Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships, with emphasis on sound business partnering• Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal and written communication abilities• Demonstrated ability to organise self and team to meet deadlines and triage and manage conflicting deadlines and requirements• A strong customer services orientation and a demonstrated commitment to and provision of quality services• Full driver’s licence (comfortable driving around the Wellington region visiting various groups, venues and events)Personal Attributes• Outgoing, motivated person who enjoys working with people • A self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team• Able to develop the role as the needs of the study evolve• Able to provide creative solutions to participant recruitment that will benefit the study and the midwifery community • Able to influence others by presenting the evidence that will enable informed choice • Able to collaborate and take directionWhat you’ll get in returnYou will get to work on the exciting research projects [WellKiwis (i.e. SHIVERS)] of International and National significance.
