We are looking for a permanent Youth Justice Coordinator to join our passionate team based in Hamilton.
The Youth Justice team works in partnership with young offenders and their families, iwi, courts, Police Youth Aid, Youth Workers, youth community organisations and schools to find the right local solutions to reduce the rate and severity of youth re-offending. 


About the role:
As part of Youth Justice Coordinator role you will be responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in accordance of the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1989. You will work with families and the wider community to hold the young person accountable and to address the factors which have led them to offend. You will be able to incorporate a restorative justice approach within your practice and utilise the combined knowledge of community resources, networks and opportunities. The work you will do will contribute to create an alternative offending free future for the young person.    
To be successful in this rewarding position, you will need:

  • Excellent group facilitation and mediation skills, along with experience in the youth justice/social services sector
  • Sound knowledge of youth law and/or practice
  • Interest in improving the community
  • To be highly organised, methodical and solutions focused
  • Good at communicating information in a clear, easy to understand way to a diverse audience
  • Computer literate with the ability to write court reports and other notes
  • Hold a full clean driver licence
