Diplomatic AppointmentSalary Range $132,417 – $160,472A unique opportunity to contribute to the internationalisation of Science and Innovation in New ZealandWe are seeking a Counsellor (Science and Innovation) to join our International Science Partnerships Team, in the Science, Innovation & International Branch of MBIE, starting in April/May 2022. The Counsellor role will make an important contribution to the internationalisation of New Zealand science and innovation. International science and innovation projects include identifying and negotiating research partnerships with European institutions, supporting the attraction of foreign investment in R&D, and engagement with key European space agencies on space policy and research. The role is based in the New Zealand representation in Brussels and will be a senior member of the diplomatic staff in the Europe region. The Counsellor will develop connections with governments, science & policy organisations, and businesses to advance the work programme. They will also support the bilateral science and innovation arrangements in-line with the MBIE’s strategy for internationalisation of the science system. You must be a New Zealand Citizen as this is a diplomatic appointment.You must be able to achieve and maintain a confidentiala level security clearance. You and your dependents (if applicable) will need to be willing to relocate and participate in pre-posting meetings and briefings. Overseas transfer and living allowances are provided for. The position is full-time and will be offered for three years, with the possibility to extend by one year.These are demanding roles and you will need to be willing to undertake a moderate to high amount of travel within the region during the term of the position, and have flexibility in your hours of work to accommodate working across multiple time zones.
