Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role

This position is in the Customer Service team within the Criminal Jurisdiction at the Christchurch District Court.

Most New Zealanders who go to court will go through the entire justice process in the District Court. Each year, 160 Judges in 58 courthouses deal with approximately 200,000 criminal, family, youth and civil matters.

This is a chance for you to be part of the team at the Christchurch Court. You will support the day to day operations of the court by managing cases and interacting with all court participants/stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Customer Service - all courts have an onsite Customer Service area that people can access for any court related matter. You will work to answer queries via face to face, phone or email interactions
  • Case Management – this involves ensuring files are accurate, up to date, and progressing through the Justice System. This part of the role involves a large component of data entry.
  • Court Taking – this is the facilitating the running of the court. This includes introducing Judges (in English and Te Reo Maori), working closely with them in the Courtroom and Chambers, managing jurors and general administration of the court.
