About us

Here at Southern DHB, we’re up to the challenge of realising our vision of Better Health, Better Lives, Whanau Ora; and to help us achieve this we’re very focused on bringing into our organisation people who display our values of being Kind, Open and Positive, with a sense of Community.

The opportunity

This exciting leadership opportunity working across the Southern district. As part of the Strategy, Primary and Community Directorate, you will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of the Covid-19 Vaccination programme. You will have proven experience leading large projects. This role has a strong strategic, service development and quality improvement focus that will see you working in partnership across the health system, to align with our vision and values.

No two days in this role will be the same as you will be managing a high performing team who value patient centred care. Strong leadership and project management skills will be invaluable to the success of programme.

About you

Your responsibilities are focused on Business Planning and Service Planning and delivery, Strategic Management, Quality and Risk Management in a rapidly evolving landscape.

With tertiary qualifications (ideally in Health or Management), and leadership experience in a similar and relevant position elsewhere, your contribution will be valued and appreciated.

You can’t do this alone however, so your ability to lead and engage, and your approachability and commitment to success will be evident in the roles you’ve held previously and your aspirations for the future.

This role can be based in Invercargill or Dunedin, please indicate your preference in your cover letter.

There is an appetite for change at Southern DHB, and we want you to help shape our future.

The location

Now to the city itself, Dunedin offers the opportunity to have the lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of. Boasting excellent education and restaurants, competitive costs of living and a beautiful coastline, life can be as relaxed or as energetic as you want. Our team enjoy the short commute to work, leaving ample time for what matters to you most. Add to this the close proximity to some of New Zealand’s most famous scenery and holiday destinations (think Queenstown, Wanaka and Milford Sounds to name but a few!) you can go from seaside to ski-slopes in a matter of hours.

Sounds too good to be true?

Rest assured, you can have it all here. Why not come see for yourself!

Closing date: Sunday, 14 February 2021.

Please note that we may begin shortlisting as we receive applications and could withdraw the advertising at any time.
