Crown Law provides legal advice and representation to the Government in matters that affect all New Zealanders, particularly in the areas of criminal, public and administrative law.
We are currently looking to appoint Crown Counsel within our Criminal Group. This is a unique position to represent the Crown in relation to criminal matters. Our mahi includes the conduct of criminal appeals in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court; managing mutual legal assistance and extradition requests to and from other countries; and exercising other miscellaneous Law Officer functions relating to criminal matters. You will have the opportunity to work with talented senior counsel, and coach and mentor junior counsel within the team. The nature of this role requires significant experience practising within the New Zealand criminal jurisdiction at a senior level, and an interest in international criminal law would be advantageous.
