The Canterbury Police District have two positions available to fill the roles of Authorised Officers (AO), one position is based at Rolleston the other is based at Christchurch Central Police Station.

 

Both positions are permanent roles.

 

The Rolleston position is mainly Monday to Friday dayshifts, hours will be discuss with the successful applicant. It may involve shift work from time to time due to operational requirements.

 

The Christchurch Central role is a team based one and includes the following: in the Public Counter the operational hours involve 7 day shift work on a roster that consists of a variety of 9 and 9.5 hour shifts ranging from 0700hrs to 2130hrs for 6 days followed by 3-4 days off. This involves a regular weekend work. 

 

Both roles include the successful applicant providing operational and administrative support which includes (but is not limited to) file management, customer service, telephony, data entry, and financial support.

 

The roles of AO also provide whole District support with Public Counter enquiries and recording of Complaints. These roles can also deal with custodial support to Police across the whole District. This includes the management of custody matters before the courts.

 

The roles require the use of various Police and standard computer programs.

Experience:

  • Ability to obtain and clearly communicate important information
  • Ability to communicate with people from all parts of the community
  • Ability to de – escalate situations where possible

 

Certification Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a physical competence test
  • Must provide a medical clearance to attempt a physical competence test
  • Applicants must be NZ or Australian citizens or have permanent residence in New Zealand
