If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been seeking, the New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) are looking for an experienced Customer Relationship Principal to be part of a transformational change in the way intelligence is designed and delivered for public sector customers, founded on insightful customer engagement.  

You will join a multi-agency team who will launch a phased programme of business and culture change across the NZIC agencies, designed to enhance the ability of customers to access and utilise intelligence.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious but crucial change programme, with cross agency executive support.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong customer focus and demonstrated competence in customer relationship management;
  • Superior communications skills, and the ability to create and maintain relationships that foster trust, information-sharing and collaboration at all levels;
  • Experience in cooperative team environments, including multi-agency teams, where open communication, responsiveness and accountability are fostered;
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and to retain sound judgment under pressure.

Also highly desirable but not essential: 

  • Broad experience as an intelligence professional and/or breadth of knowledge of NZIC intelligence products and services and the customers who use them;
  • An appreciation of current international political, economic and security affairs and a sound understanding of New Zealand Government’s role and interest in them.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
