As a result of this change we have an opportunity available to join the Cyber Security team.


About the role

This is a specialist position reporting to the Principal Cyber Security Architect, where you will provide ICT Security risk and control advice on a range of diverse and interesting activities.

As a Cyber Security Architect you will:

  • Ensure solutions are aligned with the Ministry’s business needs, and government and ministry cyber security standards
  • Guide solutions from inception to delivery including undertaking certification activities for projects including performing the upfront security risk assessment and control recommendations.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice to solution architects on new projects, modifications to existing services; or ad-hoc BAU activities.
  • Provide input into the development and maintenance of MBIE’s current and future cyber security architectures for its ICT solutions


Skills and experience

  • An understanding of business systems and technology trends
  • In depth knowledge and 5+ years’ experience and broad knowledge of ICT technology
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, project teams, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Proven influencing skills including demonstrated ability to motivate others in achievement of ICT goals
  • Able to clearly articulate risks and recommendations in both spoken and written language
  • Information risk management expertise with an understanding of ICT security concepts and tools
  • CISM, CISSP, CCSP or similar would be an advantage

Note that you must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Confidential level NZ Government security clearance
