We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join us on the journey – reporting to the Senior Data Scientist, you will be joining an engaged, supportive, diverse workforce of global professionals based in our custom-built 5 Star Green rated building in central Christchurch. The Data Engineer will be involved in driving the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence initiatives across the Kathmandu Group, being a key point of contact for stakeholders in the business.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain and optimise data pipelines, ensuring compliance with data governance and security requirements
  • Drive automation through effective metadata management using innovative tools, techniques and strategies
  • Be a key interface in operationalizing data and analytics on behalf of the business – promote data/analytics capabilities to business stakeholders and educate them on how to leverage these capabilities to achieve business goals
  • Educate and train fellow team members on new data initiatives and techniques
  • Ensure effective data management practices, promoting better understanding of data/analytics and responsible use of data
  • What we are looking for:

  • At least 6 years’ experience in data management disciplines, including data integration, modelling, optimisation, and quality
  • Solid experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with stakeholders across departments and geographic locations
  • Strong experience with various Data Management architectures like Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Hub and the supporting processes like Data Integration, Governance, Metadata Management
  • Demonstrated success in working with large, heterogeneous datasets to extract business value using popular data preparation tools such as Trifacta, Paxata, Unifi, etc.
  • Foundational knowledge of python is essential, and experience with other scripting using languages such as R, Java, C++, Scala, is desirable.
