Work for a company that sees the value and importance of their data.Job security.Great company culture and remuneration.Data Platform EngineerThe RoleThe Data Platform Engineer will be responsible for developing & managing our clients new Data Platform and their existing infrastructure, maintaining/enhancing and supporting the commercialisation of our clients digital & data capability, systems and platforms.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for ensuring data is available for all applications and to build the tables and environment to ensure the data is available, efficiently provided, and automated where possible.Work on implementing requirements into databases as part of the application teamProvide database related guidance and support to Application DevelopersSupport the successful creation and availability of data to application interfacesmaintaining databases for application level support, including CRM, and for creating procedures and processesTest databases and perform bug fixesAdvise on requirements and support the systems and processes that collate and capture dataProvide advice on the long-term data and information needs of the companyUndertake ad-hoc querying tasks on databases as requiredAssist with schema design, code review and SQL query tuningInstall, tune and implement database installations. Optimise database systems for performance and efficiencyCreate complex functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to support application developmentUpgrade and improve data schemas and their designPerform testing on databases and data environments. Ensure data qualityand integrityModel the principles of security and best practice when managing data assets, with an emphasis on private or sensitive dataImplement and manage company data management practicesEssential Skills RequiredYou will need to be passionate about data platforms5+ years experience in programming languages such as TSQL, python, postgres and elasticsearch5+ years experience in maintaining, administering and tuning SQLGood understanding of data schema standards and conceptsTechnical understanding of data platforms infrastructureGood understanding of database design, implementation and troubleshootingAble to ensure the health, quality and availability of data and ensure it is available for use by other teams to help achieve its goalYou will have a broad range of experience with different data tools and IT systems and you can quickly translate technical issues/solutions to stakeholders who aren’t necessarily from a technical background.Preferred skillsExperience or exposure in a programming language such as .NET and C#Experience working with JSON formats and filesExperience in AWS and Azure environmentsAbility to support API development and understandingWith the current travel restrictions, we’re only able to accept applications from people who are already in New Zealand.
