The Data Science team sits in and is part of the Research and Analytics team at the Agency. It aims to provide an evidence base to support and underpin smarter, evidence based decisions, for NZTA decision makers and those in the wider land transport sector.
The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
As part of the Advanced Analytics and Modelling team you will be working closely with the Transport Agency’s delivery groups providing data science, statistical and modelling expertise to solve complex problems and challenges.
The role gives you the opportunity to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders to identify opportunities that would benefit from data science or other advanced analytical techniques. Your relationship with these stakeholders will be key to success and you are seen as a though-leader by providing advice as well as solutions.
The small team is already working in a number of emerging areas including real-time predictions; identifying risks to public safety through advanced analytical and modelling techniques; forecasting; natural language processing; and evaluating the effectiveness of road engineering initiatives.
You will be a self-starter who is comfortable working with complex and often challenging data. We are looking for individual with a curious and inquisitive mind, looking to step into a position to explore and create an impact.
