About this role What you will doIn this role you will have responsibility for the development of intelligence-related concepts to support the New Zealand Defence Intelligence Enterprise capability development. You will also develop, coordinate and manage general intelligence doctrine and policy in support of the Director Concepts, Doctrine, Policy and Training.What we needWe are seeking a person who is intellectually curious, who can work across multiple events and who can understand how NZDF and Defence Intelligence interdependencies function across the organisation and national security sector. You will bring significant experience in policy analysis and development, ideally from within a large complex organisation, combined with experience from the intelligence arena.Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as you will be required to engage with a large and diverse range of stakeholders from the wider NZDF, all of government agencies and overseas partners.Key experience needed: Strong investigative, evaluative, comparative and adaptive thinking skills with an ability to critically analyse complex information and make effective recommendations;Ability to draft a range of strategy and policy documents, and internal correspondence;Proven leadership and management skills with sound policy development and implementation experience;Graduate level qualification in an intelligence, policy or strategy discipline; andExperience / knowledge of emerging technologies would be advantageous. Who we areNew Zealand Defence Intelligence (NZDI) is the lead agency for the provision of intelligence on defence matters to the Government as well as being the strategic-level enabler and technical controller of the delivery of defence intelligence activities.A key role is providing intelligence to senior defence decision and policy makers (SECDEF, CDF and MINDEF).
